Day 11 was met with heartburn from last night’s dinner. The morning Soylent didn’t help anything. My body was not used to real food like we had last night, so it really yelled at me this morning. All day really. I never really felt quite right unit a little after lunch. I got a few calories in me and then cruised to success after my dinner soylent. Read More
Well, yesterday was
Valentimes Valentine’s day. One of the days of the year you can dedicate a small something or action to the one you love. Flowers, chocolate, a love letter or even a night out on the town. My mother agreed to watch our two heathens while I took my wife out to our favorite place, Abi-Haus. This is where we were engaged and where we spend every Valentine’s day. The best food in Abilene, TX, and an atmosphere unlike any other in West Texas. Obviously, we love it. Read More

I’ve had several people, well more than the normal amount of people, today ask me how my Soylent trip is coming along. I have no new information. And I’m actually pretty proud of that. I think I did it, guys. I think I’ve done it. Three days away and I have no doubt I’ll make it. Of course, I’m looking forward to a good, hearty meal on Saturday. Good, real, juicy protein. Read More

Today’s the day, folks. My wife just returned home. The Olympics are on. And besides having an orange, I’ve had nothing but Soylent. A drink this morning. A drink at 12:30. A third and final Soylent drink at 8:00. Read More
My two boys woke up to the smell of bacon. I got to watch it sizzle in the pan. Small spots of bacon grease speckle the lenses of my glasses. My oldest likes it medium. Not too crispy. The youngest had a warm Pop-Tart. Read More
This was a down day today. I tried my best to stay upbeat, but I was dragging my knuckles all damn day. Thank God I work with some awesome people, or today would have been extra rough. Read More
You read that right. This morning started normal. I drank the morning Soylent drink. I felt great. No sluggishness. Nothing. Just straight productivity. Today was one of those days at work when you feel like a slinky tumbling down a long flight of stairs. You just keep tumbling. One stair after another. Until someone kicks you over or the stairs end. The mission today, if I chose to accept it, was to think positive. After the roller coaster ride of a day I had yesterday, I realized it was too early in this experience to start losing control. So today I made an all out effort to be more positive. I don’t know if it worked or not. But I don’t feel like I’m laying on a water bed during an earthquake anymore. So that’s good. Read More
As the title says, today was an emotional freaking roller coaster. I’m up. I’m down. I’m hungry. I’m not hungry. I honestly don’t know how to feel right now. It’s day 2. That’s all I know for sure. oh! and that dinner saved my life. I promised myself I would use this as an opportunity to eat healthier, but I just couldn’t take it. With a sick toddler and long day at work, a cheeseburger really hit the spot! hmmmm…. it ended too fast. I mean, between the two drinks, I had had 800 calories today. A cheeseburger was a welcomed delight and OKAY in my book. Read More
If you haven’t heard of Soylent, don’t worry. It’s not very complicated. It was developed by a couple of guys in Silicon Valley, looking for a way to make eating easier. The product was aptly named in homage to Harry Harrison’s 1966 science fiction novel Make Room! Make Room!, which explores the impact massive population growth could have on world resources. These two guys saw a need for a way to gain sustainance while at the same time, making time in the day for other things, like founding profitable start-ups. Read More
